Inside the medieval castle where the guest rooms Le Roc sur l’Orbieu are located, you will pass under an authentic archway dating from the Middle Ages to arrive at the ramparts and the nearby chapel. In what was once a watchtower, I have built a dining room where you will be able to enjoy local organic foods of the season, prepared by myself with care and affection (dinner only by reservation for 26€ or 32€ wine included).
At Carcassonne, you can visit the walled citadel it lived through the Crusades against the Cathars. The castle harboring your guest rooms is steeped in the same Cathar culture.
Running through the Aude is the Canal du Midi, built during the 17th century by Paul Riquet. The many tourist attractions, easily accessible from le Roc sur l’Orbieu, include the Mediterranean Sea, the Pyrenees Mountains and the Black Mountains, the Cathar castles Peyrepertuse and Quéribus, abbeys and Roman churches. You can cycle along back roads selected especially because they have very little traffic but also because of their beautiful scenery and unique attractions. Hiking is a favorite in all seasons, with nature trails on detailed maps.
