Thanda Vista was a Finalist at the American Express and AA Travel Guides Accommodation Awards of 2010 and 2011. They were also received "The Extra Mile Award" at the 2010 Ceremony.
In 2015 Thanda Vista was inducted into Tripadvisor's Hall of Fame for receiving the Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for 5 consecutive years.
In 2016 Thanda Vista was the winner in the category for 4-Star Bed and Breakfast Accommodation Establishments in the Sanlam Top Destination Awards. Some over 8000 Establishments from all over South Africa were nominated for the various categories resulting in 128 finalists. Thanda vista was again a Finalist in the 2017 competition.
Although not a historic building nor a landmark, the building of our house in 1998 was somewhat special for us as a family. With 5 children and 4 grandchildren this was to be “our” home. The first Christmas after completion of our house, we were "full house". But as the years went on and with 2 of our boys based in the USA and a daughter in Rotterdam, the beds became less and less occupied.
