Lowthwaite is situated in the peaceful valley of Matterdale, only three miles from Ullswater with views of Helvellyn and Blencathra.
Our farmhouse is originally from around 1650 with the barn part added in 1763. When we bought Lowthwaite, it was no longer an active farm, and the house was in need of an all-over renovation. After several years work, we opened the B&B in 2009. We kept it as original as we could, adding the convenience of proper working heating and water system. The interior is now a eclectic mix of English, Danish and Tanzania furniture and style.
We enjoy a rich and varied bird life and have currently a couple of resident red squirrels living here.

Featuring a garden and views of garden, Lowthwaite B&B is a bed and breakfast situated in a historic building in Watermillock, 13 km from Askham Hall. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area.
