Tra queste mura, in queste stanze, ha dimorato a lungo la nobile fiorentina Candida Quirina Mocenni, amica, amante e mecenate del poeta Ugo Foscolo.che è stato a lungo suo ospite in questo palazzo. Molti degli scritti e delle poesie del famoso poeta sono state conservati e restituiti a noi grazie all’iniziativa benefica della nobildonna Candida Quirina Mocenni che le volle acquistare, in anonimato, per aiutare l’amico poeta quando questi si ritrovò in ristrettezze economiche. Altri importanti poeti e scrittori quali VittorioAlfieri,Vincenzo Monti e Silvio Pellico frequentarono, dal 1810 in poi, per molti anni, il salotto della nobildonna fiorentina, percorrendo le splendide scale che i nostri ospiti, ancora oggi percorrono, incontrando, qualche volta, nelle serate d’inverno, un uomo tenebroso, l’aspetto di eroe romantico, con i capelli rossi e ricci al vento, avvolto in un lungo pastrano verde.
